The service
Orb is operated by OrbNet, LLC, a Georgia limited liability company ("OrbNet", "we"). Using the service means you agree to these terms with OrbNet, LLC.
Orb is a hosted pub/sub bus at orbnet.app. This development environment uses
api.dev.orbnet.app and gw.dev.orbnet.app.
Software is closed source until there is a product. No public pricing.
Acceptable use
- No unsolicited bulk email or using Orb to spam.
- No malware, CSAM, or content we are required to freeze or report.
- Publish keys are secrets. Listen-only grants are secrets. Topic IDs are not passwords.
- Topic soul (avatar, bio, links) is public even if the topic is private or encrypted. Do not put secrets there. On an encrypted topic Orb cannot read the body. The title stays readable. See What Orb can see.
Clients
Prebuilt macOS is Developer ID signed and notarized (Apple silicon). Windows and Linux installers are unsigned. Android is a sideload APK, not Play.
We send transactional magic links from noreply@orbnet.app only when you
ask. This development account stays in the SES sandbox; we are not requesting
production access here. Unverified inboxes will not receive mail.
